Dear Mr. Blueberry by Simon James is about a little girl named
Emily who writes back and forth with her teacher Mr. Blueberry. Emily is persistent that there is a blue
whale living in the pond outside her window and writes Mr. Blueberry asking for
information about whales. Time and time
again Mr. Blueberry tries to tell Emily that there is no way a whale could be
living in her pond; Emily is still convinced there is. Eventually, Emily tells Mr. Blueberry that
the whale has left her pond and she is very upset, but days later she meets him
again at the beach and tells him goodbye and that she and Mr. Blueberry love
him.
