The Giving Tree is about a young boy who has a special
connection with a tree. The boy enjoys climbing her trunk, swinging from her
branches, and even eating her apples. As the boy grows older, he only returns
to the tree when he wants something. She offers her apples, her branches, and
eventually her trunk all to help him make money. Despite losing pieces of
herself, she is happiest when giving. When the boy returns as an elderly man, the
tree explains that she has nothing left to give. All the boy wants is a place
to sit. Like always, the tree offers and she is happy.
